FAQ

How do I measure my doorway or staircase for the right gate size?

Start by measuring the width of the opening at its narrowest point, then check the listed adjustable width range on the product page to make sure your opening falls within it. For freestanding or accordion-style fences, you'll also want to measure the total length of the space you're blocking off, since these models can be configured across wider or irregular areas.

What's the difference between a pressure-mounted gate and a freestanding gate?

A pressure-mounted gate wedges against both sides of a doorway or hallway using tension, so no drilling is required, but it needs two solid surfaces to press against. A freestanding gate has its own base or wide panel legs, so it can stand on its own in open spaces, at the bottom of stairs, or in front of a fireplace where there's nothing to mount it to.

Do Guaipaipet gates and pens require tools to set up?

Most of our freestanding and folding models are designed for no-tools setup — you unfold the panels and lock them into place. Pressure-mounted gates typically require simple hand-tightening of the mounting cups against the wall or door frame, without permanent drilling. Specific setup steps vary by model, so check the instructions included with your product.

Are these gates suitable for large or strong dogs?

Product listings note the recommended pet size for each gate or pen, usually small to medium dogs, cats, and similar-sized animals. If you have a larger or particularly determined dog, we'd suggest reviewing the listed height, material, and locking mechanism for that specific model to decide whether it fits your pet's size and behavior.

Can the same gate work for both cats and dogs?

Many of our gates are listed as suitable for both cats and dogs, and some models include a built-in cat door or smaller pass-through opening. Check the individual product description, since panel spacing and opening size vary between models.

Are Guaipaipet gates safe to use at the top of a staircase?

Some of our gates are designed for stair use, but not every model is appropriate for the top of a staircase — hardware-mounted gates are generally recommended there, since pressure-mounted or freestanding gates can potentially be pushed loose under enough force. Always check the intended use listed on the product page before installing any gate at the top of stairs.

Can I use a Guaipaipet gate or pen outdoors?

This depends on the model and material. Wire and metal exercise pens can often be used outdoors for supervised playtime, while wood-panel gates are generally intended for indoor use, since exposure to moisture and weather can affect the material over time. Check the product description for the recommended indoor or indoor/outdoor use.

How do I clean and maintain my gate or pen?

Most metal and wire models can be wiped down with a damp cloth and mild soap. Wood-panel gates should be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth to avoid warping. For all models, it's a good idea to periodically check hinges, latches, and mounting cups to make sure everything is still secure with regular use.
